Farmers Change Cows' Diets to Cut
Cow Burps and Slash Greenhouse GasSome farmers are eliminating corn and soy from their cows' diets so the bovines will belch less, resulting in reduced methane emissions and lower greenhouse gasses. The farmers supply organic milk to Stonyfield Farm, which uses the product in its line of yogurts. Read all about it here in the Baltimore Sun.

Nestlé Recalls Toll House Cookie Dough
Tainted Nestlé cookie dough has sent at least 65 people to the hospital across 29 states, leading the product's makers to recall about 300,000 cases of Toll House products. Scientists are puzzling over how E. coli 0157, a bacterium that lives in the intestines of cattle, found its way into the damaged dough. Baking the cookie dough isn't enough to prevent the spread of infection, scientists warn, as just handling the dough could move the potentially deadly bacteria around the kitchen.
