Sammy Jo Claussen Wins Best Teen Chef 2009
A Kansas City high school senior is the new "Best Teen Chef 2009". Sammy Jo Claussen beat out 34 other teen chefs in toque-to-toque competition in Charlotte over the weekend. In the finals, a two-hour battle to make the best southern-inspired menu of curly endive salad with bacon and poached egg, oyster stew, and catfish, Claussen's catfish matched her coolness under fire and she captured the top prize: full tuition to study culinary arts at the International Culinary School at The Arts Institute.
