High Tech Greenhouses Use Far Fewer Resources to Produce Far More Produce

Jack and the Beanstalk have nothing on these high tech, California greenhouses. Here, tomato vines climb toward the sky, fed by IV-like hookups and irrigated with water from a man-made pond that stores condensation, rainwater and runoff. Pesticides, herbicides and energy-use are slashed - yet the yield per acre is 20 times greater than with traditional planting in fields. Read all about it in the Los Angeles Times.
